Discussion of procurement under EPCM mode
The EPCM construction mode has been promoted recently and grown to a typical project management mode because it can save costs,shorten the construction period,and achieve fast delivery.Many international oil companies have begun to implement EPCM mode in projects they invested in.Procurement under EPCM mode,though very distinctive from that under the conventional EPC mode,still maintains the principles of compliance,efficiency,and value for money.A fast and orderly procurement execution is crucial for embodying the EPCM mode's advantages.The core of procurement under EPCM mode is clearly understanding the procurement strategy of the Owner before setting up the plan accordingly.Taking the actual project as an example and combining EPCM characteristics,this paper discussed the key aspects and difficulties of procurement including preparation of procurement,procurement execution,and long lead items.This paper can offer reference to managers of domestic engineering companies.
