Research and application of intermittent pumping control technology for beam pumping unit in middle-shallow coalbed gas wells
To address the challenges of insufficient gas production, low efficiency of continuous pumping, and high energy consumption,a variable speed control strategy was adopted to adjust the pumping frequency of the pumping unit. This shift from continuous pumping to intermittent pumping aims to achieve a balance between supply and demand. The energy was effectively utilized by the intermittent pumping technology through timely oil pumping and pumping stroke frequency adjustment. The results indicate that after implementing an intelligent intermittent pumping strategy, there is a reduction of 45.14%in power consumption per hour during well opening, saving power and costs.Additionally, changes in stroke frequency before implementing the intermittent pumping strategy have a substantial impact on hourly gas production. At stroke frequencies of 1.6,2.6,and 3.6 strokes/min,the hourly gas productions are recorded as 16.14 m3/h,15.24 m3/h,and 0.14 m3/h.The hourly gas production is low at a stroke frequency of 3.6 strokes/min.After implementing the intermittent pumping strategy, the average hourly gas production at the above stroke frequencies can be increased to 15.30 m3/h.In view of the current situation regarding gas production in Hancheng gas production management area,it is recommended that an intelligent intermittent pumping strategy be implemented at a stroke frequency of 2.6 strokes/min,running for thirty minutes and then stopping for another thirty minutes. The developed intermittent pumping control technology can reduce the power consumption of the pumping unit while maintaining system stability, thereby improving the exploitation efficiency of coalbed gas.
