Application of unit-based comprehensive safety program to relieve nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy for gynecological tumor patients
Objective To explore the clinical effect of comprehensive unit-based safety program(CUSP)on nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy for gynecological malignant tumors. Methods A total of 26 patients who received treatment from November 2019 to March 2020 served as a control group and were given conventional chemotherapy drugs and nursing care;another 26 patients who received treatment from April 2020 to August 2020 formed an observation group.Besides the routine care given to the control group,CUSP nursing intervention was added to the observation group, including a CUSP safety culture team and symptom management specifications that combined medication with non-medication interventions. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)was used to assess their anxiety levels at admission and discharge, and the WHO Nausea and Vomiting Scale was used to assess the degrees of CINV at admission and after chemotherapy.Differences between the two groups were analyzed. Results There was no significant difference in the anxiety scores between the two groups at admission(15.23±7.90)and(14.85±7.80)(t=0.175,P=0.862)and in the scores of the control group between at admisson(15.23±7.90)and after intervention(17.00±7.57),while the anxiety scores of the observation group(10.50±6.49)after CUSP intervention were lower than before(14.85±7.80)(P<0.05).There were statistically significant anxiety scores at discharge between the two groups(17.00±7.57)and(10.50±6.49)(t=6.281,P=0.016).No statistical difference in CINV degrees existed between the two groups at admission(Z=0.761,P=0.446).After chemotherapy, the CINV degrees in the observation group experiencing CUSP were significantly lower than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(Z=2.931,P=0.003).Conclusion Through the implementation of targeted CUSP nursing interventions, the safety culture capabilities of the medical team can be improved, effectively alleviating patient anxiety during chemotherapy, reducing the incidence of CINV,and enhancing chemotherapy safety.
