Research on low-concentration citric acid corrosion in offshore oil and gas production facilities and application of acid washing
Citric acid washing has a wide range of applicability for offshore oil and gas treatment equipment.Due to lack of rele-vant research,the large-scale application of citric acid washing is severely restricted.In order to fully understand corrosion effects of low-concentration citric acid on different metals for guiding citric acid washing operations scientifically and effectively,citric acid corrosion testings were conducted on frequently-used metal materials in offshore oil and gas production facilities.The results suggested that in citric acid solution with a mass fraction of 10%,the corrosion was relatively mild for metals such as TC4,2205,304 and 316L.Although corrosion rate of No.20 steel was as high as 1.052 7 mm/a,it was still less than 1.115 9 mm/a,meet-ing the quality requirements for carbon steel cleaning pre-film.It can have good corrosion inhibition effect by controlling the time of citrate acid washing for more than 24 hours,adjusting the temperature of acid washing within 25℃ and adding HYH-38 inhibi-tor with a mass concentration of 1%in citric acid solution.Under the guidance of recommended low-concentration citric acid washing procedure,acid washing practice was carried out in offshore natural gas cooler,which achieved good acid washing results and provided a basis for the application of citrate acid washing technology in offshore oil and gas facilities.
