Corrosion behavior of weathering steel in bridges under simulated industrial atmospheric environment
Corrosion behaviors of ordinary steel Q345qD and weathering steel in bridges under simulated industrial atmospheric environment were compared and studied through alternate immersion tests.Cross-sectional morphology, composition and phase of the rust layer were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results showed that the corrosion rate of weathering steel in bridges was relatively low under simulated industrial atmospheric environment. The addi-tion of Ni and other alloy elements promoted the transformation of rust layer phase from γ-FeOOH to α-FeOOH,forming a dense and stable internal structure, isolating the infiltration of external S,Si,Mn and other corrosive elements that accelerated the corro-sion of steel, thus exhibiting good resistance to industrial atmospheric corrosion.
