Study on the shale gas potential of organic-rich shale in the northern part of Hebei Province
In order to meet the prevailing domestic demand for shale gas exploration and de-velopment,it is crucial to elevate the theoretical framework pertaining to the exploration and development of organic-rich shale.Drawing upon samples extracted from the northern region of Hebei Province,an array of diverse experiments including rock pyrolysis,XRD whole-rock mineral analysis, scanning electron microscopy, methane isothermal adsorption, among others, were diligently performed with the ultimate objective of unraveling the latent shale gas potential lying within the ancient geological strata of the study area. The prodigious find-ings of this research endeavor have unequivocally revealed the presence of well-developed source rocks, exhibiting a highly promising hydrocarbon generation potential, within the Xia-maling formation and Hongshuizhuang formation in the designated study area. The shale for-mations,as a whole, exhibit a substantially intricate porous structure, characterized by low porosity and permeability.Nonetheless, the conditions for shale gas accumulation and storage remain inherently favorable.Furthermore,a pioneering investigation exploring the correlation between shale gas content and lithofacies types was conducted, yielding compelling results that conclusively demonstrate the superior gas content found within laminated shale in com-parison to its blocky counterparts. These momentous research achievements have profoundly augmented the existing reservoir of knowledge on shale gas enrichment, thereby accentuating the considerable potential for shale gas exploration and development within the region char-acterized by organic-rich shale formations.Consequently, this groundbreaking study repre-sents an invaluable source of theoretical guidance, poised to effectively inform future devel-opmental initiatives.
