Study on the effect of moisture on the quality performance of jet fuel
Higher quality jet fuel can effectively avoid aircraft engine failure. The moisture in the fuel will affect the quality and performance of the fuel because of freezing in the high altitude and low temperature environment or microorganism breeding in the storage tank.In order to explore whether the filling of ballast water into the cargo tank when the tanker is empty will affect the water content of jet fuel, the water content of high flash point jet fuel was investigated under different oil-water ratios, different oil-water contact times and differ-ent quality moisture conditions, and the influence of moisture on the appearance and physic-ochemical properties of high flash point jet fuel was quantitatively analyzed. In addition, the influence of seawater on other physical and chemical properties of high flash point jet fuel was explored. It is concluded that the oil-water ratio, different quality water and contact time have little effect on the water content in high flash point jet fuel, but affect the sulfur content and total acid value of jet fuel in the seawater environment. In the oil depot, water can be considered instead of jet fuel as the flushing and pressure test medium to reduce oil waste and improve the safety of flushing operations.
