Effect of emulsifying properties on the stability and reaction process of emulsion polymerization system
Reversed-phase emulsion polymerization is an important polymerization method for the synthesis of polyacrylamide, the emulsion system is composed of an aqueous solution of polymeric monomer,a solvent and an emulsifier, the emulsifying performance of the sys-tem has an important impact on the stability of the emulsion, the polymerization reaction process and the particle size distribution of the product. In this paper, the effects of hy-drophilic emulsifier content, total emulsifier content, and lipophilic/hydrophilic emulsifier ra-tio on the stability and polymerization process of the emulsion were studied, and the emulsi-fication performance of each group of experimental emulsion systems was accurately calcu-lated.The experimental conclusion shows that when the water-oil ratio is 1.5,the emulsifi-cation system of the product with a particle size of 200~450 nm is stable and the reaction process is better,it provides a reference for follow-up research on similar reactions.
