Impact of Resilient Leadership on Employee Adaptive Performance:A Moderated Chain Mediation Model
Leadership styles are significant antecedents of employee adaptive performance. However, few studies explore the relationship between resilient leadership,a new leadership style in VUCA era,and employee adaptive performance.Drawing upon conservation of resources theory and broaden-and-build theory, this paper explores the predictive role of resilient leadership on employee adaptive performance, its mechanism and boundary condition, which enriches the results of resilient leadership and the antecedents of employee adaptive performance.Using hierarchical regression analysis to analyze two-wave 225 network data, the results show that:resilient leadership has a significantly positive impact on employee adaptive performance;thriving at work and self-leadership respectively mediate the relationship between resilient leadership and employee adaptive performance;thriving at work and self-leadership act as intermediaries between resilient leadership and employee adaptive performance;perceived environmental uncertainty moderates the impact of resilient leadership on thriving at work and the chain mediation effect of resilient leadership on employee adaptive performance through thriving at work and self-leadership.The research results are helpful to enrich the relevant research on resilient leadership and employee adaptive performance, and provide a useful reference for organizations to improve employee adaptive performance.
