How to Enhance Employment Stability in the Digital Economy:Empirical Evidence Based on the Spatial Spillover Effects of Cross-border E-commerce
One of the pivotal aspects of building a modern industrial system is the deep integration of the digital and real economies, which revitalizes traditional jobs and roles, offering novel opportunities and approaches to address employment challenges.Key findings include:first, the establishment of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones significantly boosts local employment levels and positively influences the neighboring regions'labor markets through spatial spillover and radiating effects.Second,a mechanism analysis reveals that these zones enhance regional employment primarily through three channels:expanding export scale, fostering specialization and aggregation in the productive service sector, and elevating innovation levels.Third, heterogeneity analysis indicates that regions with higher administrative levels, closer proximity to major ports, and advanced digital economy development are more effective in promoting the positive impacts of these zones on local and adjacent labor demands.Fourth,an extended analysis on spatial spillover effects uncovers a spatial decay boundary, with the policy's positive spillover effects becoming significant only within a geographical distance threshold of 0-100 kilometers.Additionally, the policy's spillover effects vary between pilot and non-pilot cities, benefiting neighboring pilot cities while negatively impacting the labor markets of non-pilot cities.
