Development of Circulation Industry,Inclusive Income Effect, and Urban-Rural Common Prosperity:Based on Scale Expansion and Structural Optimization
With the important consensus of promoting common prosperity in high-quality development, relying on the construction of modern circulation system to integrate urban-rural development is expected to accelerate rural revitalization and urban-rural common prosperity(URCP).Based on Marx's theory of social reproduction and industrial practice, this study empirically explores the impact and mechanism of the development of the circulation industry(DCI)on URCP by defining the connotation of DCI from multiple dimensions. The results show that the expansion of the circulation industry has an inclusive effect on rural residents'income. This is because rural residents'wage income will increase significantly compared to urban residents, and the urban-rural income inequality can be decreased. The organized operation of the circulation industry, with chain retail enterprises as the main body, promotes the wage income of urban and rural labor through department stores and supermarkets. But only supermarket formats can have an inclusive income effect on rural residents, thereby decreasing the urban-rural income inequality. To an extent, market competition in the circulation industry can increase employment opportunities, significantly promote rural residents'wage income, and decrease the urban-rural income inequality. However, excessive competition may be harmful to enterprises, and reduce employment opportunities, for which rural residents'wage income will be the first to be offset, leading to an increase in the urban-rural income inequality. The study provides empirical basis and practical guidance for relying on DCI to accelerate the upward flow of agricultural product channels to promote rural revitalization and URCP.
