Innovative training model for enhancing the construction and development of experimental technicians
[Objective]The role of experimental technicians in higher education institutions is paramount because they shoulder the crucial responsibility of cultivating students'practical skills,applied knowledge,and innovative thinking.Their influence extends far beyond individual experiments,encompassing the overall quality of experimental teaching,the progress of scientific research,the effective use of experimental equipment,and even the management and development of laboratory spaces.Therefore,universities and research institutions must prioritize the development of their experimental technician workforce.By employing various strategies to enhance their professional competencies and management capabilities,these institutions can keep pace with the rapid technological changes and the evolving needs of experimental teaching.[Methods]The National Training Committee for Analyzing and Testing Personnel(NTC)was established under the joint efforts of multiple key national departments,including the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Certification and Accreditation Administration.The objective is to strengthen the construction of an analytical testing personnel team and ensure scientific,standardized,systematic,and continuous training and assessment of their technical capabilities.Since 2014,the Instrumental Analysis and Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University(hereinafter referred to as the Center),recognized as the first NTC training and assessment base with in the Ministry of Education network,has focused on training experimental technicians in universities.This unique feature allows the Center to offer targeted and effective training that specifically addresses the actual needs of experimental technicians on campus.Seizing this opportunity,the Center has devised an innovative training model that merges NTC capacity-building programs with its professional development initiatives for experimental technicians on campus.This model continuously enhances the Center's training capabilities and expands its training scope to meet the growing demand for experimental technician training.This paper explores the implementation process of this innovative training model and describes the success stories of experimental technicians who have benefited from it.The implementation strategy for technical personnel in the Center encompasses comprehensive approaches.Qualified trainers with requisite academic credentials,professional titles,and experience undergo rigorous NTC teacher training and assessment to ensure they possess the necessary skills to deliver high-quality training.Courses are tailored to include fundamental knowledge,instrumentation,standard methodologies,and data processing techniques.These courses are regularly updated to reflect the latest industry trends and meet trainee needs.Annual training plans are developed by technical leaders,outlining critical elements such as timing,content,and venue.Teachers design courses within their professional expertise,ensuring coverage of preset learning objectives.Depth training,including advanced experimental techniques and data analysis skills,caters to the diverse knowledge and skills of trainees.Training is conducted following a structured process from widespread promotion,formal notifications,and registration to curriculum execution.Teachers deliver content according to the pre-designed curriculum,adjusting methods to maximize learning outcomes.The Center monitors trainee progress and feedback to ensure training quality.Robust training and assessment systems,quality manuals,and program files guarantee that training and assessment meet NTC standards.This approach enhances technical personnel's proficiency and experimental capabilities,fosters professional growth,and opens new avenues for career advancement.[Results and Conclusions]In conclusion,the innovative training model implemented by the Center has proven to be highly effective in enhancing the professional capabilities of experimental technicians,significantly contributing to the overall development of the university.This model is a valuable example for other institutions seeking to strengthen their experimental technician teams and laboratory facilities.Future endeavors will focus on refining and expanding this model to make significant contributions to the advancement of scientific research and national development.Looking ahead,the Center remains committed to continuously improving its training programs,expanding the training scope,and increasing the training effectiveness,ensuring that the experimental technician workforce remains at the forefront of technological advancements and professional excellence.
