Development and Application of Rotary Sidewall Coring Tool for Major Diameter Core of High-Temperature Slim Hole
Along with the increasing difficult exploration and development of petroleum, especially offshore petroleum,as well as the more availability of deep-water and high-temperature wells, the requirements for geolog-ical parameters obtained by wireline logging are getting stringent. In order to effectively obtain core samples of slim hole to facilitate the efficient exploration and development,a maximum diameter rotary sidewall coring tool(MRCT-dumpy)suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure slim holes was developed through innovative design and simulation analysis of the electronic control nipple and mechanical hydraulic nipple of the downhole coring tool. The tool was tested functionally and applied in 5 wells, showing that the bit performance and coring motor performance of the maximum diameter rotary sidewall coring tool are excellent, and the heat management system meets the oper-ation and design requirements. The coring function is normal, taking a maximum of 43 cores in a single trip,meet-ing the major diameter coring operation requirements of slim holes. The design and application of the tool provide guidance for the development of similar technologies in the future.
