Empirical Study of Teaching of English for Specific Purposes Based on Continuation Task:A Case Study of Policing English
Based on Xu argument proposed by Wang Chuming,the possibility of integrating the continuation task into English for specific purposes(ESP)teaching was analyzed and an empirical study was conducted on 98 police college students in policing English courses to explore the alignment effect of the continuation task in policing English writing.The results showed that:in policing English writing,alignment effect in phrases occurred in continuation task;the effect was more prominent in the continuations of the English-version articles than in those of the Chinese ones;reading English-version articles could reduce the form-based errors and semantics-based errors compared with reading Chinese ones;the post test scores of the experimental group and the control group both improved slightly,but there was no significant difference between the two groups.
