Therapeutic Effects of Anti-precocious Decoction in Isolated Premature Thelarche
Objective To investigate therapeutic effects of anti-precocious decoction in girls with isolated premature thelarche(IPT).Methods Clinical data of 190 girls with IPT who atten-ded outpatient clinics and whose medical records were relatively complete were collected, and the children who were given anti-precocious decoction,an oral traditional Chinese medicine(formula:Chinese yam,Poria,Zhi Mu,Chi Pao,Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata,Xia Kucao, etc.),combined with dietary and life guidance, were categorized as the treatment group(n=95)and those who were given dietary and life guidance only were categorized as the control group(n=95).Both were followed up in the outpatient department for 1 year to compare the clinical outcomes of the 2 groups and to evaluate the safety of anti-precocious decoction. Results After the intervention, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 94.74%,and the effective rate of TCM syndrome efficacy was 100.00%,both significantly higher than those of the control group(17.89%and 23.16%,respectively,P<0.05).The maximum breast length diameter, ovarian volume,LH,FSH,E2,and TCM syndrome scores of the treatment group were significantly reduced compared to be-fore intervention(P<0.05),and were smaller than those of the control group(P<0.05);no ad-verse drug reactions were observed during the follow-up period;the rate of conversion of PT to central precocious puberty(CPP)in the treatment group was lower than that of the control group(8.42%vs 14.73%,P<0.05).Conclusion Anti-precocious decoction combined with dietary and life guidance might help to improve bilateral breast length diamete and ovarian volume in girls, while also reducing the level of sex hormones and the probability of conversion to CPP,with rela-tively high safety.
