Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy of Johns Hopkins evidence-based nursing intervention in patients with radiation pneumonitis during thoracic tumor radiotherapy. Methods A total of 100 patients with thoracic tumor radiotherapy complicated with radiation pneumoniti-sadmitted to the Second Hospital of Xiamen Medical College in 2022 were selected and divided in-to the control group(practicing conventional nursing care,n=50)and the observation group(practicing Johns Hopkins evidence-based nursing care,n=50)by using the random number table method. The improvement of pulmonary function[maximum mid-expiratory flow(MMF),forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1)and forced expiratory volume in the first second/forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC)],blood gas indexes and inflammatory factor levels[arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PaCO2),blood partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2)and oxygena-tion index,C-reactive protein(CRP)]were compared between the two groups;the quality of life[Quality of Life Evaluation Scale(SF-36)],psychological status[Self-assessment Scale for Anxie-ty and Depression(SAS,SDS)],and self-perception evaluation[Self-Perceived Burden Scale(SPBS)]were assessed and compared between the two groups. Results After care,FVC,FEV1,FEV1/FVC,PEF and PaO2,PaO2/FiO2 indexes of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.001);PaCO2 and CRP levels were lower than those of the control group(P<0.001).After the nursing care, the SF-36 scores of all contents in the observa-tion group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);the SDS,SAS and SPBS scores were lower than those in the control group(P<0.001).Conclusion The application of Johns Hopkins evidence-based nursing intervention in patients with thoracic tumor radiotherapy compli-cated with radiation pneumonitis might be effective in improving patients'lung function,impro-ving their quality of life and treatment compliance, and contributing to the improvement of their conditions.
