Medical ozone has been used in clinical practice for nearly 100 years since 1935,and it was introduced in China at the beginning of the 21st century.Medical ozone,including ozone wa-ter,ozone oil and other forms,can relieve itching and pain,generate anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effects,and promote wound healing and anti-oxidation.At present,ozone therapy has been applied to a variety of diseases in dermatology,such as psoriasis,skin infections,herpes zos-ter,dermatitis,eczema,pemphigus,burns and scald,systemic sclerosis,etc.As an adjunctive treat-ment,it can reduce the use of drugs,and have effective and safe clinical outcomes.At lower cost,and with fewer side effects,it can help shorten the course of the disease to some extent.By sum-marizing and analyzing the mechanism of action,clinical application in dermatology,application forms and side effects of medical ozone,this article assesses the effectiveness and safety of ozone therapy and its expected future developments,in order to provide new ideas and more reliable ba-sis for clinicians to choose ozone for the treatment of related skin diseases.
