TACE with Drug-loaded Microspheres and TACE with Iodine Oil in Unresectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Objective To compare clinical efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)with drug-loaded microspheres and TACE with iodine oil in the management of unresectable hep-atocellular carcinoma. Methods A total of 70 patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma admitted from October 2020 to October 2023 were subjected to TACE.According to the TACE embolic agent, they were divided into the drug-loaded microsphere TACE(DEB-TACE)group(36 patients, with CalliSpheres drug-loaded microspheres)and iodized oil TACE(c-TACE)group(34 patients, with iodized oil).Clinical outcomes, liver function indices[alanine aminotransferase(ALT),total bilirubin(TBiL),and glutamic transaminase(AST)]and the incidence of complica-tions(vomiting,fever,moderate-to-severe abdominal pain, and acute hepatic dysfunction)were compared between the 2 groups at 6 months postoperatively. Results The DCR rate of the obser-vation group was higher than that of the control group(88.89%vs 67.65%,P<0.05);the postop-erative levels of ALT,TBiL,and AST were higher than those of the preoperative period in the two groups(P<0.05),but the levels of ALT,AST,and TBiL in the DEB-TACE group were low-er than those in the c-TACE group(P<0.001);the differences in the complication rates of the 2 groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion DEB-TACE might be more effec-tive than c-TACE in managing unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma, exerting less impact on liv-er functions without increasing complications.
