Objective To investigate the inflammatory mechanism of benign convulsions with mild gastroenteritis(CwG)by detecting serum inflammatory factors in acute and convalescent CwG.Methods Thirty children diagnosed with CwG were selected as the case group, and 30 chil-dren with mild acute gastroenteritis without convulsion were selected as the control group.Venous blood was collected in the acute stage and convalescent stage of the two groups.High mobility group box 1(HMGB1)was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The levels of serum IL1β,IL2R,IL6,IL8 and TNF-α were detected by chemiluminescence. Results The lev-els of HMGB1,IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in the acute stage of the case group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in serum IL-1β and IL-2R between the two groups(P>0.05).The number of seizures, the total duration of seizures and course of disease were positively correlated with serum levels of HMGB1,IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in the acute stage of the case group(P<0.05).The serum levels of HMGB1,IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-αwere positively correlated with each other(P<0.05).The levels of HMGB1,IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-αin the recovery stage were decreased compared with those in the acute stage in the case group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the levels of HMGB1,IL-1 β,IL-2R,IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α between the case group and the control group during the recovery period(P>0.05).Conclusion HMGB1-mediated immune inflammatory network is involved in the pathogenesis of CwG,and monitoring the changes of inflammatory factors such as HMGB1 is helpful for the clini-cal diagnosis and treatment of CwG.
