Objective To investigate the effect of simple negative pressure puncture combined with segmented tourniquet venipuncture method in elderly stroke patients with forearm vein puncture. Methods A total of 135 stroke patients treated in the Department of Neurology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from July 2022 to July 2023 were selected and divided into the control group, test group A and test group B according to the method of randomized numerical table, each with 45 cases. The 3 groups used simple negative pressure puncture needles;the control group adopted the conventional tourniquet method, the test group A adopted the upper segmental tourniquet method, and the test group B adopted the upper and lower segmental tourniquet method. The 3 groups were compared in terms of the success rate of one-time puncture, the level of operative pain of venipuncture[assessed by visual analog scale(VAS)],and the occurrence of infusion extravasation. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the one-time puncture success rate between the control group and test group A,and there was no statistically significant difference in the one-time puncture success rate between test group A and test group B(P>0.05);the one-time puncture success rate in test group B was significantly higher than that in the control group(P=0.038).There was no statistically significant difference in the level of pain between the control group and test group A,and there was no statistically significant difference in the level of pain between test group A and test group B(P>0.05);the pain level in test group B was significantly lower than that in the control group(P=0.008).There was no statistically significant difference in the infusion extravasation rate between the control group and test group A,and there was no statistically significant difference in the infusion extravasation rate between test group A and test group B(P>0.05),and the infusion extravasation rate in test group B was significantly higher than that in the control group(P=0.039).Conclusions The simple negative pressure puncture combined with the upper and lower segmented tourniquet venipuncture method can improve the one-time puncture success rate, reduce venipuncture pain, and decrease infusion extravasation in elderly stroke patients with forearm vein puncture. What this study has found may provide a new approach for forearm venipuncture in elderly stroke patients and have certain clinical promotion value.
