Clinical Efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupoint Plaster in the Recovery of Gastrointestinal Function for Patients after Gastric Cancer Surgery
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine acupoint plaster in the recovery of gastrointestinal function for patients after gastric cancer surgery. Methods Using convenient sampling,132 patients who met the criteria for gastric cancer diagnosis and underwent surgical treatment in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from January 2024 to July 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 66 patients in each group. The control group received routine postoperative care, while the observation group was further treated with traditional Chinese medicine acupoint plaster, both with continuous intervention for 7 days. The time of first flatus, recovery time of bowel sounds, time of first defecation, postoperative gastric fluid drainage volume,TCM syndrome scores, peripheral blood gastrointestinal hormone levels, incidence of postoperative adverse reactions, and nursing satisfaction were compared between the 2 groups. Results After the intervention, the observation group had shorter times for first flatus, recovery of bowel sounds and first defecation,as well as lower postoperative gastric fluid drainage volume, compared to the control group(P<0.05);the observation group showed lower TCM syndrome scores for chest and abdominal distension, vomiting and acid regurgitation, and frequent belching, compared to the control group(P<0.05);the levels of vasoactive intestinal peptide and motilin were higher in the observation group than those in the control group(P<0.05);the incidence of postoperative adverse reactions was lower in the observation group(P<0.05),and nursing satisfaction was higher in the observation group compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupoint plaster can contribute to promoting the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients after gastric cancer surgery, potentially reducing their TCM syndrome scores and enhancing their satisfaction with nursing care.
