Health Education Based on Mind Mapping in Medication Adherence and Compliance in Hypertension
Objective To explore the impact of health education based on mind mapping on medication adherence and compliance among patients with hypertension. Methods Using convenience sampling,100 hypertensive patients admitted to the Department of Cardiology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 50 patients in each group. The control group received conventional health education, while the experimental group was provided with health education based on mind mapping. After 6-month intervention, the 2 groups were compared in terms of compliance behavior(using a self-made"Assessment Form for Compliance Behavior of Hypertensive Patients")and medication adherence(using a simplified Morisky questionnaire). Results Compared with the control group, the experimental group showed significant improvement in compliance behaviors after intervention, including medication management, timely medication intake, regular blood pressure monitoring, and periodic follow-up appointment(P<0.05).After intervention, the scores of the Morisky questionnaire were significantly higher in both groups compared to before intervention(P<0.05 or P<0.001),and the score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P=0.035).Conclusion Health education based on mind mapping can contribute to improving medication adherence and compliance in hypertensive patients, enhancing their self-care awareness.
