Objective To investigate clinical efficacy of Du Mai Mineral Wax Mud therapy in the management of rheumatoid arthritis.Methods The case data of 60 patients with rheumatoid arthritis admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from January to December 2023 were collected,and they were divided into a treatment group(n=30)and a control group(n=30)based on whether they were treated with Du Mai Mineral Wax Mud therapy.The treatment course lasted for 7 days.VAS pain scores from day 1 to day 7 of treatment,as well as Barthel index scores on day 1(before treatment)and day 7(after treatment),were compared between the 2 groups.Results During the first 5 days of treatment,there was no statistically significant difference in VAS scores between the 2 groups(P>0.05),but on days 6-7 of treatment,the VAS scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in Barthel index scores between the 2 groups before treatment(P>0.05),but after treatment,the Barthel index scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those before treatment and those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Du Mai Mineral Wax Mud therapy may effectively relieve joint pain symptoms for patients with rheumatoid arthritis and improve their self-care ability in daily life,and the alleviation of rheumatoid arthritis pain symptoms is a gradual process.
