A large sample retrospective study of low-level laser therapy for female androgenetic alopecia
Objective To explore the long-term efficacy and safety of low-level laser therapy for female androgenetic alopecia. Methods From April 2018 to April 2023,data on female androgenic alopecia treated with low-level laser therapy were collected to eval-uate the efficacy.Ordinal logistic regression analysis was used to explore the related factors of the overall efficacy. Results A total of 2418 female androgenetic alopecia patients were included in this study.Totally 1207(49.9%)patients treated with low-level laser therapy had a mild effect, and 767(31.7%)patients had a significant effect. And 41 to 50 years old patients[OR=1.33,95%CI(1.01,1.75)],>50 years old patients[OR=1.72,95%CI(1.15,2.56)],LLLT use times>180[OR=1.39,95%CI(1.14,1.69)],combination with minoxidil[OR =1.75,95%CI(1.50,2.04)]had a better overall effect.Patients with more scalp dandruff[OR=0.78,95%CI(0.63,0.96)]had a poor overall effect.None of the patients had serious adverse reactions. Conclusion Low-level laser therapy is a safe and effective treatment for female an-drogenetic alopecia patients.Long-term regular use of low-level laser in combination with minoxidil is more effective in the treatment of fe-male androgenetic alopecia.
