Investigation of appearance anxiety and its influencing factors in cosmetic injection patients
Objective To explore appearance-related anxiety and its influencing factors among patients undergoing cosmetic in-jections.Methods A convenience sampling method was employed to select 296 patients from the Cosmetic Injection Center of the Plastic Surgery Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences between January and April 2022.Self-administered questionnaires and the social appearance anxiety scale(SAAS)were administered before cosmetic injection treatment. Results Analysis of the collected data unveiled a moderate mean appearance anxiety score(2.45±0.85)among patients seeking cosmetic injections.Notably, age emerged as a significant factor influencing appearance anxiety scores, with a negative correlation observed(r=-0.115,P<0.05).Additionally,patients opting for facial wrinkle removal treatment exhibited lower appearance anxiety scores(Z=-2.289,P=0.022).Spearman correlation analy-sis further confirmed the negative association of age(r=-0.133,P<0.05)and facial wrinkle removal(r=-0.133,P<0.05)with appearance anxiety.Linear regression analysis highlighted the significant contributions of facial wrinkle removal(β=-0.200,t=-2.923)and facial de-pression filling(β=0.132,t=1.993)in explaining variance in appearance anxiety. Conclusion The study indicates a relatively low level of appearance anxiety among cosmetic injection patients, with age and facial wrinkle treatments being closely related to influencing factors.Age-related facial aging emerged as a significant factor affecting appearance anxiety.
