Clinical application of negative pressure wound therapy in scar repair incision
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of negative pressure wound therapy(NPWT)in suture incision after scar repair surgery. Methods A total of 80 patients with hypertrophic scar requiring surgical treatment admitted to the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery of General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study ob-jects and divided into different groups according to a random number table, with 40 cases in the study group and 40 cases in the control group. The study group was treated with negative pressure wound therapy, while the control group was treated with routine dressing changes. The number of postoperative dressing changes, the healing time of the operative area, the degree of postoperative pain of the pa-tients[using visual analogue scale(VAS)]and the patient satisfaction of the two groups were recorded. Results The average number of dressing changes was significantly lower in the study group than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05)for mean healing time. The degree of postoperative pain in the study group was significantly less than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the satisfaction was significantly better than that in the control group(P<0.05).Removing negative pressure for 1 week after operation, the suture incision in the study group was smoother and there was no seepage compared with the control group. No serious postoperative complications occurred in either group. Conclusion The application of negative pressure wound therapy technology to the wound after scar repair can play a full role in reducing tension, fixation and drainage, reduce the number of postoperative dressing changes, and improve the quality of healing. The method is simple and practical, and worthy of clinical promotion.
