Investigation on status quo and related factors of postoperative pain in costal cartilage harvest children with congenital microtia
Objective To investigate the status quo and related factors of postoperative pain in costal cartilage harvest children with microtia. Methods A convenient sample of 172 costal cartilage harvest children with microtia from the ear reconstruction depart-ment of a Beijing tertiary grade A hospital were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire, and the pain degree at rest and during ac-tivity was assessed by Wong-Baker Faces Pain Rating Scale. Results The incidence of pain at rest was 89.02%and the incidence of moderate to severe pain was 22.48%within 0~96 hours after operation; The incidence of pain during activity was 96.48%and the incidence of moderate to severe pain was 53.20%within 0~96 hours after operation. The mean value of children's pain score during activity was maintained at a high level(more than 6 points)within 6~24 hours after operation. There were significant differences in postoperative pain scores among different educational background of parents, work status of parents, family location, family structure, anesthetics and analgesic pump drugs(P<0.05).The multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender, whether the child is an only child and family structure had significant effects on the postoperative pain scores(P<0.05).Conclusion Postoperative pain in costal cartilage harvest children showed its high incidence and severity.Gender, whether the child is an only child, family structure are the main influencing factors of post-operative pain.
