Integrating DNA Barcoding into Experimental Teaching of General Entomology
In order to improve the quality of experimental teaching in general entomology and cultivate more innovative talents for the major of plant protection under the background of new agricultural sciences, taking DNA barcoding as an example, the latest scientific research achievement and technology are integrated with the experimental teaching.Herein, the necessity for students majoring in plant protection to master DNA barcoding is introduced, the feasibility of carrying out DNA barcode experiment in the experimental teaching of General Entomology is analyzed, the specific process of molecular identification using COI gene sequences as DNA barcodes is optimized in sample preservation,DNA extraction,PCR amplification, electrophoresis detection, sequencing and analysis. In addition, the implementation and assessment plan for conducting the topical experiment of DNA barcoding or combining it with traditional taxonomy experiments is designed. The integration of DNA barcoding changes the traditional experimental teaching mode of general entomology, and provides ideas for exploring innovative experimental teaching.
