Resistance Correction Method of Ship Models in Circulating Water Channel
The resistance of ship model is a conventional test that can be carried out in the circulating water channel(CWC).The model-to-ship extrapolation is more difficult due to the smaller model in CWC.The study of resistance correction method is very necessary in CWC.Taking KCS and some other models as objects,the model resistance and flow field measurement tests are carried out in the CWC of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.According to the flow condition of the channel and the traditional correction methods in towing tank,a new blocking effect and resistance correction method is developed for ship model in CWC.The model-to-ship extrapolation deviations between the 2.5~3.5 m standard models in CWC and larger models in towing tanks are about 1%,in design speed the deviations are less than 1%.It shows that correcting the resistance curve with the inclination is necessary.The new procedure to correct ship speed based on the modified Tamura formula is more accurate.
