Experimental Teaching Design of Antenna Efficiency Measurements Based on Reverberation Chamber Technique
To have a deeper understanding of the radiation characteristics of antennas and the propagation mechanism of electromagnetic(EM)waves, experimental cases of reverberation chamber(RC)based antenna measurements are proposed.Firstly, the working principle of RC is introduced, and the transfer function of wireless channel within RC is given based on statistics.Secondly,RC based reference antenna method(RAM)is introduced, and the statistical analyses of antenna efficiency measured using the RAM is exhibited. Finally, the efficiencies of two types of antennas are measured in practical RC,the associate measurement uncertainties are also analyzed. With the help of the proposed experimental cases, the students can not only understand the characteristic of antenna and propagation mechanism of EM waves, use RC technique to determine antenna efficiency, but also get acquainted with the concept and application of statistical electromagnetics, further stimulating students'enthusiasm for learning related courses.
