Study on Ultrathin Cryo-Section Technology of Polymer Composites——A Case Study of iPP/EPR/SiO2 Composites
Ultrathin cryo-section technology is a necessary pre-processing technology for the internal microstructure analysis of polymer materials. The true structure image is very important for the research and modification of polymer materials.According to the thermodynamic property that the molecular movement of polymer material changes with temperature, the section experiments of iPP/EPR/SiO2 composites are conducted at different temperatures to explore the changes and effects of section temperature on the microstructure and morphology of the sample. The experimental results show that the glass transition temperature is the turning point of the change of the section results. The microstructure of the samples obtained before and after the glass transition temperature is set have a great difference. However, too low section temperature can cause serious winding phenomenon, which is not conducive to the observation and resolution of microstructure. The glass transition temperature is the best Ultrathin cryo-section temperature for polymer materials, which not only ensures the true structure of the sample, but also can obtain high quality smooth slicing.
