Practice of Laboratory Safety and Protection Course Based on Discovery Teaching Method
To implement the"great safety"in scientific and technological talents cultivating,we reform the laboratory safety and protection courses based on the discovery teaching method,and explore its application effect in the core courses of the eight-year undergraduate program majored in basic medicine.The results show that it effectively guides students to think independently,interact actively,and successfully build an independent knowledge system by using discovery based teaching method.During the practical observation,we find that,students have a comprehensive understanding of classifications of hazards in medical/biological laboratories,causes of laboratory accidents,and methods for handling laboratory accidents,with the increasing emphasis on laboratory safety.The questionnaire survey show that the majority of students highly recognize the new teaching form,which meets expectations of course design.In summary,the discovery based teaching method has broad application prospects in laboratory safety and protection related courses.
