Research Progress on the Cardiovascular Protection Mechanism of Dietary Nitrate
Epidemiological studies have shown that increasing vegetable intake can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. In recent years, the protective effects of nitrate mainly derived from diet on the cardiovascular system have attracted widespread attention. This article reviews relevant literature and summarizes the cardiovascular protection mechanisms of dietary nitrate, including lowering blood pressure, improving endothelial function, inhibiting platelet aggregation, reducing myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI),and lowering pulmonary artery pressure. It proposes that dietary nitrate can be used for dietary treatment of cardiovascular disease patients.
