Can Low Carbon Transition Help Manufacturing Industry Go Green?A quasi-natural experiment based on LCCP
The Low-Carbon City Pilot policy is an important measure for the country to promote industrial transformation and upgrading. In this research, the Low-Carbon City Pilot(LCCP)is taken as a quasi-natural experiment, and the impact of urban low-carbon transition on the green development of manufacturing industry and its mechanism are revealed by using the Double Difference Difference(DID)model. The results show that LCCP policy significantly improves the green total factor productivity(GTFP)of regional manufacturing industry and promotes its green development. The LCCP policy mainly helps the green development of manufacturing industry by improving the level of green technology innovation and reducing energy consumption. The LCCP policy has the best effect on GTFP improvement in large cities in eastern re-gion,but has a weak effect on GTFP improvement in small cities in central and western China.
