Research on the Impact of Digital Trade on the Green and Low-carbon Transformation of Manufacturing Industry
Digital trade presents a significant opportunity for green transformation, which has become an indispensable requirement for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. The purpose of this study is to conduct an empirical analysis on how digital trade affects the green and low-carbon transformation of China's manufacturing sector, utilizing provincial panel date from 2013 to 2021.The research finds that digital trade promotes the green and low-carbon transformation of the manufacturing industry as a whole. The four dimensions of digital trade, namely digital trade capaci-ty,innovation factor foundation, foreign trade potential, and infrastructure environment all contribute to promoting the a-doption of eco-friendly and sustainable practices in the manufacturing sector, but the effects vary.Coastal areas benefit greatly from digital trade in facilitating the green and low-carbon transformation of their manufacturing industry, whereas inland areas experience a relatively insignificant impact in this regard. In regions characterized by a higher concentration of industries and a greater level of human capital, there is an observed significant facilitative impact in the domain of dig-ital trade. It facilitates the transition of the manufacturing sector towards environmental sustainability and reduced carbon emissions, primarily through technical innovation, consumption upgrading, and factor allocation. This approach exhibits a significant impact on intellectual property rights with a prominent single-threshold effect.
