The Impact of Enterprise Digital Transformation on Labor Income Share
Based on an enterprise monopoly competition model including digitalization, this paper uses enterprise panel data from 2012 to 2021 to estimate the impact of enterprise digital transformation on labor income share by using a two-way fixed-effect model. The study found that the digital transformation of enterprises significantly promoted the increase of labor income share.Heterogeneity analysis shows that digital transformation has a more significant promoting effect on labor income share in non-state-owned enterprises, capital and technology-intensive industries, regions with lower labor adjustment costs and regions with higher intellectual property protection. The mechanism analysis finds that enterprise digital transformation has a masking effect on labor income share by improving total factor productivity, while its employ-ment creation effect and the mechanism of improving labor bargaining power have a promoting effect on labor income share.Further analysis shows that the increase of labor income share brought by enterprise digital transformation can pro-mote the total factor productivity of enterprises. Therefore, enterprises digital transformation should persist in promoting, giving consideration to both efficiency and equity;the bias of digital technology progress should be adjusted, optimizing the structure of human capital.
