Digital Intelligence Empowers the Upgrading of the Global Value Chain of the Manufacturing Industry:An Empirical Test based on Panel Data at the Provincial Level in China
The vigorous development of digital intelligence technology and multi-scenario application have helped the rapid development of the manufacturing industry and brought a prominent impact on the foreign trade of the manufacturing industry.Based on China's provincial panel data from 2012 to 2021 for 10 years, this paper examines the impact of dig-ital intelligence development on the status of the global value chain of manufacturing industry from both theoretical and empirical aspects. The results show that:firstly, digital intelligence has a significant positive impact on the status of the provincial manufacturing global value chain, which is still valid after endogenous treatment and robustness test;Second, there are certain time and regional differences in the promotion effect of digital intelligence on the status of the global val-ue chain of the manufacturing industry, and the Sino-US trade friction weakens this positive promotion effect, and the promotion effect is more obvious in the central and western regions of China and low-level opening-up regions.Thirdly, the mechanism test finds that promoting the improvement of productivity and the improvement of the level of scientific and technological innovation is the transmission channel for digital intelligence to affect the status of the global value chain of the manufacturing industry.Fourth, there is a significant spatial autocorrelation in the position of the global value chain of the manufacturing industry, and there is an obvious spatial spillover effect on the impact of digital intelligence.
