Isolation and identification of constituents from the leaves of Cerasus tomentosa
Objective To study the chemical constituents of the leaves of Cerasus tomentosa. Methods The chemical constituents of 70% (ψ)ethanol extract of the leaves of Cerasus tomentosa were isolated by various chromatographic techniques including vacuum liquid chromatography,Sephadex LH-20,ODS chromatography column, silica gel column and p-HPLC,and the structures were identified with the help of physicochemical characters and spectroscopic techniques. Results Ten compounds were isolated from 70% ethanolwater extraction and their structures were identified as (+)-syringaresinol (1),(+)-syringaresinol-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2),7S,8R-dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (3),7S,8R-5-methoxydihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol(4),kaempferol (5),quercetin (6) (-)-epicatechin (7),fraxinol-6-β-D-galactopyranoside (8),1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-[4-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2-methoxyphenoxy] propane-1,3-diol (9) and 5,5'-dimethoxy-7-oxolariciresinol (10).Conclusions Compounds 2,4 and 10 are firstly isolated from Prunus genus.Compounds 1,3,8 and 9 are isolated from this plant for the first time.
