Isolation and identification of chemical constituents from Clinopodium polycephalum
Objective To investigate the chemical constituents of Clinopodium polycephalum. Methods The compounds were isolated from the 70%ethanol/water extract of C.polycephalum using macroporous adsorption resin chromatography, silica gel column chromatography,Sephadex LH-20 chromatography and HPLC techniques, respectively, and identified by their physicochemical properties and spectral technologies. Results Fifteen compounds were successfully isolated and characterized, including tilianin(1),apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(2),diosmetin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(3),apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide methyl ester(4),luteolin 7-O-glucuronide-6"-methyl ester(5),naringenin(6),enodicytol(7),luteolin(8),apigenin(9),betulin(10),3-hydroxy-11-ursen-28,13-olide(11),2α,3α-dihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid(12),hederagenin(13),maslinic acid(14),and 2α,3α-dihydroxyursolic acid(15),respectively.Conclusion Compounds 1,3,5,7,and 11 are isolated from the genus Clinopodium for the first time.
