Research progress on the mechanism of SGLT2i on type 2 diabetes mellitus and renal protection
Objective sodium glucose transporter 2 inhibitors(SGLT2i)are a novel class of nephrotargeted drugs that reduce glucose absorption in primary urine and increase urine glucose excretion in a non-insulin-dependent manner by inhibiting SGLT2i receptors.Considerable evidence suggests that SGLT2i provides renal protection in a variety of ways in addition to its hypoglycemic effects, such as:regulating local and systemic renin-angiotensin system, glucagon secretion,VP-2 secretion,EPO production, mitochondrial fission and dissolution balance etc.In this paper, the effects of SGLT2i on the treatment of type 2 diabetes and renal protection were discussed in detail from the cellular and molecular level based on blood metabolism.
