By researching domestic and international references since nearly 20 years,the chemical constituents and biological activities of Chloranthus japonicus are reviewed and summarized.At present,the main chemical components of Chloranthus japonicus are terpenoids,coumarins and lignans,which possesses anti-tumor,anti-bacterial,anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective pharmacological effects.Chloranthus japonicus has high medicinal value and potential development prospects in clinical research,which is worthy of further study.Therefore,the present study is a systematic review of the chemical composition and biological activities of Chloranthus japonicus,which will provide a reference for the subsequent in-depth research.
