Determination of Sudan dyes in environmental water and drinks by MSEP@CTAB-based magnetic solid phase extraction combined with HPLC-UV
Objective An organic/inorganic dual-functionalized magnetic nanocomposite(MSEP@CTAB)was synthesized and used as a sorbent for magnetic solid phase extraction combined with HPLC-UV to detect Sudan dyes residues in drinks and the environment water. Methods Sepiolite(SEP)was used as an inorganic material to modify the Fe3 O4 magnetic nanoparticles. After that, organic modification was carried out using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB),the organic/inorganic dual-functionalized magnetic nanocomposites MSEP@CTAB was successfully obtained.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy,X-ray diffractometer, vibrating sample magnetometer and fully automatic specific surface and porosity analyzer were used to characterize the synthesized materials. The conditions of magnetic solid phase extraction were investigated and optimized. Results Under the optimal experimental conditions, the developed method provided the good linearity(R2≥0.996 2)in the range of 0.5-50 ng·mL-1 with low limits of detection of 0.05-0.07 ng·mL-1.The intra-day and intra-day precision were 1.8%-8.8%and 2.8%-9.0%,respectively.Three Sudan dyes were effectively detected by this approach in drinks and the environment water with spiked recoveries ranging from 82.5%to 108.2%.Conclusion The established method is simple, rapid, sensitive, providing a feasible strategy for the detection of trace amounts of Sudan dyes in environmental water and drinks.
