Objective To compare two groups of images obtained through two different contrast media access methods(the injection of contrast media in the lower limb extremity venous approach and the conventional upper extremity venous approach)in CT angiography(CTA)examination of the head and neck. Methods Sixty patients who were suspected of vascular lesions of the head and neck and underwent CTA examination in our clinic were collected and divided into an experimental group(lower extremity venous approach)and a control group(upper extremity venous approach),with 30 cases in each group.Compare, analyze, and evaluate two groups of CTA examination images obtained from the injection of contrast media in the lower limb extremity venous approach and the conventional upper extremity venous approach. Results The CT values of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, average CT value was(310±10)Hu in the experimental group and(330±10)Hu in the control group. The experimental group showed better images of the head and arm trunk, the beginning of the bilateral common jugular A,and the bilateral subclavian A than those in the control group(only 2 cases had lower target intravascular CT values);in the control group,30 patients were seen to have contrast residue in the adjacent veins, causing different degrees of artifacts and interfering with the image quality of the imaging arteries. Conclusion The imaging protocol of contrast media injection in the lower limb extremity venous approach can make better CTA images that meet the diagnostic imaging requirements. The images obtained had clear walls of the target vessels, good contrast,no contamination of the adjacent concomitant intravenous contrast, and realistic and reliable imaging information.
