Research Progress in Traditional Chinese Medicine Research on Tumor-Associated Constipation
Objective To investigate the understanding of traditional Chinese medicine on the etiology and treatment of tumor-associated constipation.Methods Computer searches of the Chinese Knowledge Resource Consortium,Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform,Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database and PubMed database were conducted to collect Chinese and English literature on the treatment of tumor-related constipation in the past 10 years and to summarize the understanding of tra-ditional Chinese medicine on the etiology and pathogenesis of tumor-related constipation and the treatment pattern.Results From the literature,we found that tumor-related constipation is mostly caused by deficiency of internal organs,loss of harmony between Qi and blood,and imbalance of Yin and Yang,as well as cancer toxicity,drug invasion and emotional and psychological disorders,which lead to the failure of large intestine conduction function.Traditional Chinese medicine treatment mainly includes internal and external treatment.The internal treatment method mainly adopts methods such as regulating Qi,benefiting Qi,nouris-hing Yin and warming Yang,which can not only prevent and treat constipation,but also improve symptoms such as abdominal dis-tension,dry mouth and dry throat.In addition,external treatments of TCM,such as acupuncture,acupoint application and Chinese herbal enema,are also widely used.Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine treatment for tumor-associated constipation has better efficacy and fewer adverse effects,but further exploration and discovery of other treatment methods are needed,and the effi-cacy and safety of the treatment still need further verification by more high-quality studies.
