Research Progress in Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis with Traditional Chinese Medicine
Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic non-specific intestinal inflammatory disease characterized by continuous and diffuse inflammatory changes of colorectal mucosa,the etiology of which is not very clear.Its lesions are mainly limited to the mu-cosa and submucosa of the large intestine.There is no specific drug that can treat the disease in western medicine.Although aminosalicylic acid,glucocorticoids or immunosuppressants have certain effects on the disease,they take a long time and have large toxic and side effects.Traditional Chinese medicine has its own characteristics and unique advantages in treating chronic ul-cerative colitis.It has stable curative effect and is not easy to relapse.It can avoid the toxic and side effects of western medicine treatment,and the treatment cost is low.It is in line with the national conditions and is welcomed by patients.It has broad appli-cation prospects.In this paper,the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine treating ulcerative colitis was analyzed and discussed.The review was as follows.
