Effect of Yiqi Congming Decoction(益气聪明汤)on Intellectual Development Level and Daily Living Ability of Children with Intellectual Disability
Objective To explore the effects of Yiqi Congming Decoction(益气聪明汤)on intellectual development and daily living ability of children with intellectual disability.Methods A total of 158 children with intellectual disability admitted to the hospital from October 2019 to October 2022 were selected as the objects of this study and were divided into groups according to random number table method,with 79 cases in the observation group and 79 cases in the control group.The control group used the acupuncture treatment.The observation group additionally used Yiqi Congming Decoction.The treatment lasted for 12 weeks.The total effective rate,intellectual development level,ability of daily living,motor function score,the levels of dopamine(DA),norepinephrine(NE),neuron-specific enolase(NSE)and 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)were compared after treatment.Results After treatment,the overall effective rate of the observation group was significantly greater than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there was no difference in the levels of intellectual growth of the two groups(P＞0.05).After treat-ment,the difference in intellectual development scores between the two groups increased,with the observation group scoring higher than the control group.The difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in daily living capacity between the two groups before treatment(P＞0.05).After treatment,the difference in daily living capacity between the two groups increased dramatically,and the score of the observation group was greater than that of the control group,with a statisti-cally significant difference(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in motor function between the two groups before treatment(P＞0.05),and the motor function score of the two groups increased significantly after treatment,with the obser-vation group having a higher motor function score than the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there was no significant change in DA,NE,NSE or 5-HT between the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the levels of DA,NE,NSE and 5-HT in the two groups dramatically varied,with DA,NE and 5-HT significantly increasing and NSE significantly decreasing.The obser-vation group had higher levels of DA,NE and 5-HT,whereas the control group had lower levels of NSE,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Yiqi Congming Decoction has a good therapeutic effect on children with intellec-tual disabilities,significantly improving their intellectual development level,daily living ability and motor function.It also has a good regulatory effect on serum neurotransmitter levels.
