Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF)is a chronic progressive,persistent and refractory pulmonary disease of un-known etiology,with high mortality and limited treatment.The continuous development of traditional Chinese medicine has brought good news for the relief of symptoms and improvement of quality of life of IPF patients.This article reviews the name,pathogenesis and treatment of IPF in traditional Chinese medicine,and analyzes the mechanism of the treatment of IPF by tradi-tional Chinese medicine from the aspects of anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidative stress,anti-angiogenesis,autophagy,anti-epithelial-mesenchymal transformation,anti-aging,anti-endoplasmic reticulum stress,etc.
