Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge,attitudes and behaviors of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)among urban and rural residents in Liaoning Province and to clarify the pathways of the"knowledge-attitude-behavior"effect of TCM among them.This study aimed to provide theoretical evidence for promoting the use of TCM health serv-ices and improving the relevant policies of the public health system in China.Methods A stratified random sampling method was used to select participants and a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the current status of TCM"knowledge-atti-tude-behavior"among urban and rural residents in Liaoning Province.Result The results showed that the level of TCM knowl-edge among residents in Liaoning Province was 5.00(3.00,7.00),the level of TCM attitude was 9.50(9.00,12.00),and the proportion of TCM behaviors was 50.3%.Urban-rural residence,age,education level,work situation,health status and chronic disease status were related to TCM behavior(P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between TCM knowledge and TCM atti-tude among residents(coeff=0.199 7),and there was a positive correlation between TCM attitude and TCM behavior(coeff=0.457 7).TCM attitude played a mediating role between TCM knowledge and TCM behavior(direct effect coeff=0.255 2;indirect effect coeff=0.091 4).Conclusion In conclusion,TCM knowledge and TCM attitude are important influencing factors of TCM behavior among urban and rural residents in Liaoning Province.TCM attitude plays a mediating role in the relationship between TCM knowledge and TCM behavior.
