Genital herpes(GH),as a common clinical sexually transmitted disease,can be classified as"hot sores"and"yin sores"in Chinese medicine according to its clinical manifestations,and has the characteristics of easy recurrence and difficult to cure,which seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients.The patients physical and mental health is seriously affected.Modern medical treatment of GH is mainly based on antiviral and immune regulation,which has achieved some clinical success,but it fails to achieve the root cause and has toxic side effects.The treatment of GH by TCM is diverse and based on ev-idence-based treatment,which has the advantages of alleviating clinical symptoms and reducing adverse reactions.At the same time,Chinese and western medicine are combined to treat GH,which can complement each other's strengths and give full play to their respective advantages.In this paper,we review the research progress on the pathogenesis and treatment of GH in Chinese and Western medicine to provide reference for related research.
