Gouty arthritis usually occurs in the first metatarsal(big toe),finger joints,knee joints and elbow joints.Based on the knowledge and clinical experience of the theory of Huangdi Neijing(The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine),Wang Maohong is good at treating gouty arthritis from the upper and lower divisions.Gouty arthritis mostly occurs in the first metatarsophalangeal joint,ankle joint,finger joints.He believes that if the gouty arthritis occurs in the finger joints and elbow joints,the disease mechanism focuses on the invasion of wind evil;while if the gouty arthritis occurs in the first metatarsophalan-geal joints,the first metatarsophalangeal joint of the ankle joints and the knee joints,the disease mechanism focuses on the influ-ence of dampness evil.In the course of medical treatment,Fangji Huangqi Tang,Licorice and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Tang,Gui Zhi Zhi Paeoniae Zhi Mu Tang and other formulas are often used for the treatment of gouty arthritis,which provides a feasible way of thinking and means for clinical treatment.
